The Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) was launched in 2006 -07. Under this scheme, scholarships are given for higher technical and vocational education to wards of Ex-Servicemen / Ex-Coast Guard personnel and their widows. But Narendra Modi, who became Prime Minister again in 2020, has taken the first decision of his cabinet for the martyrs. With the new decision, now the sons of a martyred soldier will get Rs. 2500 per month while the daughters will get Rs. 3000 per month. And now under the PM Scholarship Scheme, scholarships will also be given to the children of state police personnel and officers who killed in the terrorists and Naxalite attack.

Benefits of PM Scholarship Scheme

  • Every year a total of 5500 wards / widows of ex-servicemen are selected for Prime Minister’s Scholarship.
  • Scholarships are divided equally between all chosen boys and girls.
  • Under the Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme, scholarships are paid to students for one to five years according to the duration of their courses.
  • All the selected boys will be given a scholarship of Rs 2500 every month (earlier it was Rs 2000).
  • And a scholarship of Rs 3000 will be given every month to all the selected girls (earlier it was Rs 2250).
  • Apart from this, scholarship of Rs 500 will be given every month to the children of the state police (earlier they were not eligible for this scheme).

  • Students who have taken admission in the first year (excluding Lateral Entry and Integrated Course) can apply online for PMSS.
  • Students who have secured 60% or more marks in 10 + 2 / Diploma / Graduation can register for this scheme.
  • Students who are dependent wards / widows of ex-servicemen and former Coast Guard personnel can all take advantage of this scheme.
  • And children of the state police can also fill the form for the Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme.
  • Citizens’ wards including para military personnel are not eligible for this scheme.
